This is at least a part of my story which has taken me from being completely ignorant about birds through to having a slightly better understanding through, of course, Power BI.

And this is a little walkthrough of how to use it plus a little bit of dax.
Various Vids that I’ve found helpful in this area:-

Currently working my way through this. Looks extremely promising way of integrating PowerApps and PowerBI.
In short – you can put a powerapp into a Power BI Dashboard and by contrast you can put a Power BI Dashboard into a PowerApp. Charles Sterling, one of the Microsoft Program Managers, has suggested that this is one of the most important parts of the conference, and I would tend to agree with him.
M is the code that Power BI uses during the extract transform and load but there is very little literature available for users to improve their knowledge in this area. It’s a real pity in some respects as it has a relatively shallow learning curve and has the capacity to significantly improve efficiency levels in addition to being transferrable across Power BI, Azure Analysis Service and Excel (Get Data).
That said, the best single resource I’ve come across to move you from zero to hero when ‘programming’ with M is ‘M is for Data Monkey’
See below for a link to purchase – actually I’ve just notice that I’m one of the few people that reviewed this on Amazon (where it has a five star rating). This is a link to purchase it from the amazon uk. You’ll need a bit of determination to get to the end of the book as it gets pretty deep towards the end.
Actually I came across quite a good podcast the other day https://www.myexcelonline.com/podcast/002-power-query-with-ken-puls-from-excelguru/ where one of the authors chats about his journey through Excel and into power query.
This is a really great course to get you started with PowerBI. I suspect that it’s rather dated given all the updates that have taken place since it was first launched, but it does have good resources and a nice balance to it.
You shouldn’t need to pay for the coursee – just make sure that you review it, which is to all intents and purposes the same as doing the course, only you don’t get a gold start at the end!
This is a deeper dive video session on AAS.
The following is an important link showing a user how to upscale a Power BI model into Azure Analysis Services.
This video takes you through a mini project, prepared by myself, that covers:-
- Building a Sharepoint Site
- Creating a Sharepoint List
- Building a PowerApp
- Using a PowerApp
- Visualising the Sharepoint List in PowerBI
